Network engineer and builder. Jake has delivered network activation, assurance and optimisation on networks run by Telstra, Optus, TPG, AAPT, Vocus and nbn, and led construction on the nbn with a team of more than 75 across three states. He has built internet providers since 2019, grew the first until it was acquired in 2020, and founded the carrier whose assets now sit inside Hypernet. Trenches, splices and routing tables since the early 2010s; the aim is one of Australia's most reliable carriers, which is why Hypernet stopped reselling the nbn. MBA.

Built by network people.
Hypernet is a Sydney internet provider started by engineers who built fibre for the carriers you already use. We connect apartment buildings and businesses with real fibre at a flat price, and the people who answer are here. This page is the record.

Team record, 2011 to 2026. Figures are the team's own across earlier businesses, the nbn and projects for clients nationally.
I spent years building fibre for other people: duct, haul, splice, hand it over, move on. Somewhere past the hundred-thousandth splice it was obvious that the part failing customers was never the glass. It was everything wrapped around it: the intro rate, the "up to", the call centre, the twelve-week lead time nobody could explain.
Hypernet is the version of this industry I would want to buy from. The network is real and we run the core ourselves. The price on the card is the price. If something breaks, a person in Sydney who can fix it tells you what is happening until it is fixed.
We are small, we are funded, and we are building one precinct at a time. If your building or your business is in the way of that, I would like to hear from you.

The rules we started with
The price on the card is the price, this month and next year. We would rather earn the renewal than engineer it.
We sell fibre that runs into the building and up to the apartment. If a building is not connected, we say so and tell you when it will be.
Support is by chat and email, from people who know the building, so there is always a record and never a hold queue.
Six promises from the first letterbox drop, kept and updated
The flyer that went into Rhodes letterboxes in 2022 made six promises. Here is what each one said then, and what it means now.
Then: "because we are independent we pass the savings on." Now: Fibre 500 for $40 a month, Fibre 1000 for $70 and Fibre 2000 for $100, and no middleman in the price.
Then: "great plans, without the marriage." Now: no contract on any residential plan. Change or leave from the next billing cycle.
Then: "pricing does not increase after six months." Now: no intro rate, no step-up, and the line is printed on every plan card.
Then: "seriously fast, purpose built." Now: real fibre to the apartment, with typical evening speeds measured and published rather than "up to".
Then: "our entire business is based in Australia, we work from Sydney." Now: still Sydney, by chat and email, with a record of every conversation.
Then: "nothing to do with nbn." Now: no nbn in the middle, a core network we run, and fibre built locally by a licensed carrier.
We have built the ducts, hauled the fibre and spliced the joints.
Before Hypernet sold a plan, the people behind it spent years building fibre networks for others. It shows in the parts customers never see: the core in Sydney data centres, dark fibre into each precinct, and a technician who tests the connection in your lounge room before leaving.
Riser surveys, splicing, building activations and the handover to support. The people who have been in your comms room.
Routing, addressing, monitoring and the monthly report. The people who answer the technical questions in a tender.
The platform behind quoting, activation and the status page, built in-house over four years.

- Everything on the recordSign up, book, change plans, report a fault and get a quote online. Calls are available for people who need them, and whatever is agreed on a call is confirmed by email.
- One technician visit, done properlyThe only part of switching that is not online is the one that matters most. It is included, and it is done by a person who checks every device.
- Sold only where it is liveOnly buildings that can be connected today are sold to. The rest are listed as coming or planned, with no dates we cannot keep.
- Australian owned and operatedHypernet Pty Ltd, Sydney. Support, field work and the core network are run from here.
Check your building.
If it is live, you could be connected this week. If you run a business, the business pages have the plans, the SLA and the network.
